Jesse Pimenta is a product designer and creative technologist based in Brooklyn with over a decade of experience building and prototyping tools, platforms, and visual systems across culture and software.


He has owned various domains within the software industry, as a Creative Technologist at Beats by Dre, Senior Product Designer at Foundation, Design Lead at Context, Catalog, and most recently Kaiber AI, one of the earliest AI video generation platforms. Along the way he contributed AI work to the opening title sequence of Demascus (Tubi/AMC, starring Martin Lawrence) — one of the first AI-assisted title sequences to reach final production.

&#38;nbsp;He builds his own tools — campseek.fm and dubplate.club — and runs Dance Data, an independent record label and underground fanzine  stocked at Printed Matter NYC.


Select collaborators include Apple, Beats by Dre, Boiler Room, Warp Records, NTS Radio, Red Bull Music Academy, Adidas, and Porsche Design.

Product Goals &#38;amp; Process


I was hired as Foundation’s very first product designer after only being an active NFT platform for a few months. This was an extremely exciting time in the web3 space, as many web3 design principles and theories were still very early in formation.&#38;nbsp; From the moment I came on, our ultimate goal at the organization was always to prioritize strong tech solutions in the product, keep the functionality simple, and design for the future of web3 we wanted to see. &#38;nbsp;
The challenge was, coming on to a project this early meant there was hardly any design system in place for me to utilize, the goals of the business were still being defined, and structure had to be mostly self-orchestrated, as priorities were constantly shifting based on the company’s vision or community feedback.I was instrumental in creating a sense of organization and process between the design team and front end team. I led some of Foundation’s most used features end-to-end and was able to feel the direct impact from the community and iterate on those features accordingly. It has been my most hands-on experience with product to date, and it was absolutely thrilling to get in at such an early stage when so many web3 design problems are yet to be discovered and solved.

— I’ll go into more detail about a few features I designed that had measurable impact, as well as some features that haven’t been built, that I felt had a lot of potential.

Creating a Collection
At one point early in our process, we felt a lot of pressure to make a flow that had feature parity with Manifold Studio’s contract creation flow, considering they were the industry standard for creating custom smart contracts. The problem our engineers discovered at the time was that the cost to include ASCII art and deploy to a test network increased the cost to create a contract by almost 10x! It also assumed a level of understanding about test networks that we were sure most of our users didn’t have, and would’ve created inevitable UX and support issues.
I was instrumental in simplifying our create collection flow to make it the most frictionless contract creation experience in web3. Through lots of&#38;nbsp; UX exploration, design passes and reviews, dogfooding, and testing of Manifold’s current flow, i was able to sell the wider team on cutting ASCII art and test networks from the flow and focusing on ease of use and accesibility, which saved our users almost $1000 when minting their custom contract, and drastically reduced the margin for error when creating a collection. To date, over 2,000 custom contracts have been created on Foundation.

Splits

	Part of the beauty of the web3 space is that features like on-chain splits have the ability to create royalty streams for artists like never before. It was incredibly exciting when I was tasked with designing the entire splits feature as my first project at the company. It has become a wildly popular feature and has been added to NFTs on Foundation over 20,000 times.
Some of the things I considered when designing this feature were: 
- Does this create another step entirely in the flow, or would it be in between artwork details &#38;amp; minting?
- How many people can be added to a split?- How does this render on the artwork page once minted?- How does this appear on a card?- How do we let people know they’ve received royalties from or been added to a split?- How does this appear on the profile of the split creators and the profiles of people who were added to a split?- How does this render on our activity page?

Private Sales

	Before Private sales were possible, backdoor transactions that didn’t establish provenance for artists were rampant on the site. Creators were transferring their art to low-balling collectors and making verbal agreements through twitter DMs. Private sales was our answer to that desire path, and allowed creators to create private contract terms and send them to a specific ETH address, which allowed us to re-capture over $2M in potentially lost transactions.
A few of the things I considered when designing this feature were:

Search / Browse V2 (WIP)Discovery was one of the places where we spent the least time in terms of technical and product investment. With over 130,000 NFTs minted, there will soon be a need for better tools for discovering content when a search results page can infinitely grow in size.

 During the past few months, I’ve done some heavy scouting + research as well as visual design on what search and browse on Foundation could evolve into if tags were more better intentioned for discovery
A few of the things I considered when designing this feature were: 
- On-chain catgorizing would be sick, but we aren’t there yet- Therefore this design would be for the purpose of making the best discovery experience for NFTs minted through Foundation’s platform&#38;nbsp;- How do we consider the future of ingesting all NFTs on Ethereum and how would this implementation apply to those NFTs?- How can we use the data we gain from search patterns and tag chaining to drive sales or surface emergent behavior?- Is building a better tag discovery tool a good step towards creating more meaningful interactions for collectors?- Does our current site architecture set us up for better discovery in the future?
- Can we enhance the browse (/artworks) page by adding tags to browsing for a more enhanced browsing experience?

WIP Prototype


Feed / Activity / Notifications V2 (WIP)The current Feed on Foundation is a very early version of what the co-founder and I had envisioned for the future of the Foundation feed. I spent a few weeks exploring and iterating on the future of what a feed / notifications page on Foundation could look like, and thought through all the different possible notifications / event types a user would want to see. Context was a huge point of inspiration for me personally as I explored this design challenge. Foundation’s feed currently only shows Foundation’s NFTs, but the goal would eventually be to show the entire Ethereum network’s activity.

I collaborated with a small, distributed team while at Foundation. Since the co-founder and I were 20 hours apart, I was the primary designer for the features I noted, with design support and high-level vision being given by the co-founder. Primarily, I worked in collaboration with the product operations manager and the front end development team to collaborate on day-to-day projects such as design systems, interaction design and bug fixes, and shipping features to production.

Summary

As the first and Lead Designer at Context, I was at the helm of steering each feature from its conceptual sketches to the final stages of production. I was in close collaboration daily with the co-founders, brainstorming and fleshing out new concepts, and streamlining these ideas into actionable design tickets for our small but nimble developer team. This collaborative nature was pivotal in evolving Context's initial version into a premier, highly functional web3 feed, setting a new standard for watching Ethereum activity.
Yet nearly a year into our journey, we sensed a pivotal moment to shift gears. This wasn't from a lack of passion for Context, but an idea born from our first hackathon — that was the inception of mint.fun. Our ambition was to evolve beyond merely observing Ethereum activity. We envisioned a platform where users could actively participate in minting projects, spotlighting the most minted contracts in a straightforward, engaging and gamified interface. This pivot aimed to transform passive observation into active engagement, offering insights into trending projects in a way platforms like Etherscan couldn't match.
I led all of Context and mint.fun’s most used features end-to-end and was able to feel the direct impact from the community and iterate on those features accordingly.&#38;nbsp; It marked my first role as a solo designer at a startup, and by far the most ownership of a product with real demand. I’ve always had a passion and strong opionions about social content feeds, so it was an amazing opportunity to be able to put my thought process into this product and see the results have success in real-time.

Customize allowed users to customize the default mint.fun project page that was generated with every contract, allowing anyone to use mint.fun as their custom minting site.

	!fundrop

	We launched a major marketing campaign about 8 months into Mint.fun's existence called !fundrop, aimed at creating a digital rewards program for our users. Users were encouraged to mint a !fundrop pass, which would keep track of their activity and reward them for reaching certain goals. This was a massive success as well, allowing us to rally a strong community of daily users who had tangible goals they could reach to led to exemplary user behavior. The !fundrop pass NFT would go on to be the most minted project on Ethereum by number of minters, aside from ENS names. I feel extremely proud to have worked on something with this level of reach, and it speaks to the ability of our team to respond to what the web3 community was looking for at the time.

I collaborated with a small, distributed team while at Context. I was the primary designer for both product and brand for the first year or so, with high-level vision being given by the co-founder. Primarily, I worked in collaboration with the product lead engineer and cofounder who also was a engineer, as well as more front end engineers we brought on the team to collaborate later on. I grew the design team to 3 people - 2 product designers and a brand designer before finishing my time at the company.

Summary

Catalog was an independent music platform designed to give artists direct control over how they sell and distribute their music. The goal was to compete in the same space as Bandcamp and SoundCloud, powered by infrastructure that handled payments and ownership seamlessly — without requiring users to understand the technical layer underneath.

The Challenge
Most platforms built on blockchain infrastructure make that technology visible: wallet connections, transaction confirmations, technical jargon everywhere. That friction kills adoption. Our audience — independent musicians and their listeners — had no interest in learning about the underlying tech, and we had no interest in making them. The design challenge was building something that felt like a completely normal, well-made music platform while running on that infrastructure invisibly.

	The Approach


	We abstracted away every trace of the technical infrastructure from the user experience. Where other platforms require users to approve nearly every action, we handled confirmations silently behind the scenes. Users uploaded music, purchased releases, and withdrew earnings through flows that felt completely normal — no special accounts, no technical language, no friction.

	What I Built


Across the platform I owned product design from zero to one. Features include: upload flow, artist pages, user profile pages, onboarding flow, KYC flow, purchase flow, withdraw flow, collection tab, and release pages. I also contributed to brand design and frontend engineering, and worked closely with the artist community throughout.&#38;nbsp;
I owned product design from zero to one across the entire platform. Features I designed include:


Upload flow — the end-to-end experience for artists publishing music to the platform
Artist pages — profile and catalog pages where artists presented their work
User profiles — listener-facing profile and collection views
Onboarding flow — first-run experience for new artists and listeners
Release pages — individual pages for each release, designed for discovery and purchase
Purchase flow — buying music without any visible payment complexity
Collection tab — where users managed and browsed their purchased music

	Results

Catalog shut down in early 2026 after several years of development. The platform never achieved the growth needed to sustain itself, but the design consistently received strong feedback from the artists who used it. The core bet — that you could build a technically complex product that felt completely normal to use — held up.

		<description> DEMASCUS (2025)


Summary
This was one of the first AI-Assisted title sequences to ever make it through final production.
I built a custom animation pipeline using Google collab notebooks for the title sequence of AMC / Tubi’s series Demascus.
In 2022, before robust video AI tools existed, we created the first-ever title sequence using a custom video AI pipeline. Built in Cinema4D and After Effects, the sequences were then fed into early Stable Diffusion and Disco Diffusion models for stylization. Without off-the-shelf solutions, we animated clay renders traditionally, then used early AI “hallucination” to reskin them and allow the intelligence dream an Afrofuturist journey through a&#38;nbsp;morphing D.C. cityscape.

The concept mirrors the show’s plot, following Demascus through VR therapy guided by an AI that builds new multiverse realities from his memories and life choices.

Starring Martin Lawrence,&#38;nbsp;Okieriete Onaodowan, and&#38;nbsp;Sasha Hutchings, the series faced delays after AMC cuts and strikes for several years, but is now finally streaming on Tubi.</description>
